Los Magos Sotol Blanco & 6 Year Reserva 750ML

The whole Los Magos range in two bottles. One 750 ml Blanco and one 750 ml 6 Year Reserva. It's the gift to send when you want the bottle to come with a story, and it's the easiest way to taste what six years in barrel does to the same spirit.

Sotol (pronounced "so-TOLL") is distilled from the Desert Spoon plant, not agave. It grows wild across the Chihuahuan Desert of Northern Mexico and takes roughly fifteen years to mature. Like Champagne, sotol is protected by a Denomination of Origin.

The Blanco is unaged and bright: citrus, fresh herbs, black pepper, a warm sweet finish. Wild-harvested, roasted in a volcanic rock-lined pit over mesquite, oak and poplar, fermented in open air with deep well water, and triple distilled in copper stills.

The Reserva was distilled by the late Don Celso Jacquez, a fifth-generation sotolero. Double distilled in copper, then six years in tequila barrels, which brought out vanilla, clove and warm baking spice. Six barrels yielded roughly 1,100 bottles in total. There is no second run.
