Sotol is a distilled spirit made from the Desert Spoon plant (Dasylirion wheeleri), which grows wild in the Chihuahuan Desert of northern Mexico. Unlike tequila and mezcal, sotol is not made from agave.

Tequila and mezcal are made from agave. Sotol is made from the Desert Spoon plant, a different species entirely. Sotol tends to be brighter and more herbaceous than tequila, without the smoke of mezcal.

Yes. Los Magos Sotol is naturally gluten free. The Desert Spoon plant contains no gluten, and our distillation process introduces none.
